A Fresh New Experience, Same Old Warmth

After two months of arduous efforts and preparations, we are absolutely thrilled to reopen our bistro on 17th August! Those familiar walls have witnessed a transformation, giving birth to a rejuvenated space that not only embraces the new but cherishes the old. Our team has been working behind the scenes, blending contemporary design with the timeless appeal of our bistro's legacy. 

 

Rest assured, while the décor might have a fresh touch, your old menu favourites are still there to tantalise your taste buds. To spice things up a little, we've also introduced a few new dishes, crafted with love and expertise, for you to explore. But what truly hasn't changed – and will never change – is our heartwarming hospitality. That will always remain the beating heart of the Huber's experience.

 

From our travels: Japan

On a recent trip to Japan, I was introduced to oysters from Okayama. I am always hesitant to import fresh seafood as it is not our expertise. I tried the oysters and I was taken aback by the taste and quality; it was fresh, plump, creamy, juicy and full of sweet umami. To my pleasant surprise, the oysters were frozen and defrosted just minutes before serving. That was when I knew it was possible to have these oysters in my store for your enjoyment. It is now incredibly convenient to defrost and have top quality oysters for your dinner party!

 

My brother, Ryan, and I wanted to replicate the Japanese Arabiki sausage in Singapore. While in Tokyo, we went out to the supermarkets to buy a few different brands of Arabiki to try it and get an idea of the taste, size and texture. We also spoke to a Japanese food expert to get his advice on making the sausage. Ryan went to work and he came back doing a couple of rounds of R&D, with myself being the guinea pig (always willing). Ryan has now produced a delicious and worthy Arabiki sausage that our whole office has fallen in love with. Our kids are also in love with this sausage as it has a mild taste and sweetness to it. I hope you and your family like it as much as we do!

 

A Timeless Service: Dry-Aging at Huber's

In the midst of celebrating the new, it's essential to shine a light on our core – something that stands as a testament to our commitment to quality and tradition. While our bistro was undergoing its metamorphosis, our dry-aging service was running uninterrupted. This is a service we've always been proud of, and one that many of you have come to cherish over the years.

 

For the uninitiated, dry aging is a process that intensifies the flavour of the meat and ensures its tenderness, giving you a gourmet experience like no other. At Huber's, we've been steadfast in upholding this artistry, guaranteeing you meat that's been treated with utmost care and expertise. As you take the ageing longer past 30 days, mushroom and blue cheese notes start to develop, a gift from the good bacteria and mould that grows on the surface of the meat. Should you wish to have beef customised to your choice of cut or length of ageing, feel free to speak to our butchers to arrange this for you.
